 ABOUT YES!

The YES! conference has two main goals.  The first goal, is to encourage and support middle school students to take higher level science, math, and technology classes in order to keep all of their future options open.  The second main goal, is to spark student interest by having them participate in hands-on workshops lead by some of Ridgecrest's brightest STEM professionals.  Through involvement in hands-on workshops and live demonstrations, participants will be introduced to applications in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math for traditional and non-traditional careers.

This year's YES! conference will be held Saturday, September 28th, 2019 from 8:00am until 2:00pm.

Our goals are similar to the local Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conference offered to middle school girls.  If you are interested in the EYH program, click here to check out their website.

Workshops held in the past presented such diverse topics as: aerodynamic water bottles, developing slime, building bridges out of spaghetti, and walking on top of fluids!  The conference costs each participant $10.  This provides attendance in 3 of the many workshops, receipts of a YES! t-shirt, and lunch.

The YES! conference is focused towards middle school boys, but ALL students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades (middle, private, or home school) are invited and welcomed to attend.  It is important to register as soon as possible, since the workshops fill quickly.  Workshops will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, however we make every attempt to place the students in at least one of their top choices.  Return your registration form to your school or submit your registration online as soon as possible (Registration is open from August 23rd- September 6th)!
